GS Baseball is getting some good pub. Big fan. I am.
But here is the thing that no one is talking about. With Elon and GSU tied in the loss column at 4 apiece and Elon down 3 SoCon games to GS's only 2, the Eagles are in the driver seat. Win out and there is nothing else anyone can do.
Thats a nice spot to be in.
As far as regional prediction, I will go ahead and assume UGA and GT will host. Now, the questions begin. Which would you prefer?
GT is solid, but beatable, obviously. UGA is tough at home, especially when they are facing elimination in Athens.
GT maybe the answer, but I am taking UGA. If the ultimate goal is to win it all, then you have to beat a 'UGA' at some point, might as well be in Athens.
And I think from a 'storyline' standpoint, it would do this fan base some good. UGA is coming off quite a high from last years title game, Omaha run. And those in the Classic City who have not noticed Perno's crew yet will certainly will come postseason time. Think of the statewide attention it would get. This fan base needs something like that in a time that I feel, quite frankly, is about to be another bright, sucessful run for GS athletics.
I would say that beating GT would give you that same kind of pub. Maybe if if it were by, say, 20 runs.
But you and I know better. To get that kind of press from the Atlanta media, the beating would have to come from outside its city limits.
